No more need to wait until winter for fast-flying tubing fun… Colorado’s only summer tubing hill at Snow Mountain Ranch in Granby is now open! Only the third of its kind in the nation, we were invited to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony and then spend the afternoon tubing. So much fun!
Imagine a smooth, cool ride down a misted hill covered in a special material that allows you to glide over the surface just like gliding over snow. And once you reach the bottom, there’s a magic carpet to take you back up to the top.
You can ride single, or on a double-tube, which is one junior sized tube attached to an adult tube. Helmets are optional but available for your safety.
We must’ve gone down the hill a dozen times and each time was more fun than the time before. YMCA employees will shoot you down backwards or spin you if you’re brave enough to ask for it. Or, even if you’re not.
The facilities at the top of the hill include restrooms, concessions and picnic tables. And you can’t beat the view. It’s the perfect place to have lunch and watch the action!
When you go, don’t wait to reserve your time for the tubing hill. It’s advised you visit the Programs Building three days in advance to book your time slot, so go there first thing upon your arrival!
The YMCA at Snow Mountain Ranch has been a favorite destination for our family for years. The number of activities are endless, and just keep getting better. Last year the Y added a miniature golf course and now this! We can’t wait to return for our third all-church campout this coming Labor Day weekend and hit the hill again!
Disclosure: My family’s stay at Snow Mountain Ranch was covered by the YMCA to provide you with this review, but as always, all opinions expressed here are my own.
