Let Your Friends Help You Plan Your Next Vacation on Gogobot

Planning on going somewhere? Gogobot may be the next social media tool you’ll want to add to your distraction arsenal. The social travel site, Gogobot uses the power of social media to crowd source all the best information on destinations all over the world. Want a recommendation on hotels in Chinatown, San Francisco? Read reviews from Gogobot users that have been there and then add the hotels you like to you trip planner. Then, search restaurants and attractions and keep adding to either your Wish List or your Trip Planner. What you end up with is kind of like a vision board of all the places you want to go on your trip to San Francisco, or in my case, Downtown Orlando!

We’ve been considering visiting Orlando in the very near future. Since it was kind of a last minute decision, I need to gather as much information as I can, fast to decide if it’s something we can make happen. I know in general that I want to take my family to visit DisneyWorld, Universal Studios and Sea World, but what can others tell me about where to stay and what to do at those parks? We’ve never been.

I learned a lot just by exploring everything recommended by others on Gogobot. It helped me to create a Trip Plan of what we would want to get most out of our visit there. For instance, I never knew that Epcot Center was more than just an educational theme park. I always thought it was kind of like attending a conference on global community or something like that. I also thought everything was located in that big dome that looks like a golf ball. Well, I learned that not only does Epcot have lots of fun rides, but the dome is actually a ride itself: Spaceship Earth. I know. I’m probably the only one who didn’t know this. And contrary to my beliefs about Epcot, it seems to be everyone’s favorite park at DisneyWorld from what I read on Gogobot. It is now a “not-to-miss” stop on our Trip Planner for Orlando.

It was also easy to review all the hotel options, including prices, in downtown Orlando. Since I’m planning my dream trip, I chose Disney’s Polynesian Resort as out hotel of choice where you’re just a monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom and Epcot – crucial when doing the park with a little one. Being able to return easily at any time during the day and quickly at the end of the day when Reagan will surely be unable to walk even one more step – priceless. Plus, they had me at Hawaiian luau.

From Hawaiian luaus to English fish and chips, I’ve also added the Yorkshire County Fish Shop at EPCOT, England Pavillion to our to-do list. I love good fish and chips and the reviews I read say this is the best value in the park when paired with a pint of beer. Afterwards, on our way out of the park, we’ll surprise Reagan with a trip to the Ghiradelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop in Downtown Disney. My mouth is watering already.

Besides DisneyWorld, I’m now in the process of scoping out Universal Studios and SeaWorld to round out our visit to Orlando.
